How it works
In Bidson's Chicken race auctions, the person who makes the highest bid wins, just as in a traditional auction. The difference is that the calling price starts at the product's market value and falls to zero crowns. Each auction lasts for 10 minutes.
The longer you dare to wait, the lower is the price you pay for the product.
No bids are binding. If the person who placed the highest bid decides not to purchase the product, the offer goes to the person who placed the next highest bid and so on, until somebody purchases the product.
Participating
To participate in an auction, every bidder has to pay an entry fee before the auctions start. The entry fee varies, depending on the value of the product.
A Chicken race generally consists of 4-6 auctions. You can choose to participate in all the auctions, or just a selection. If you choose to participate in all the auctions, you receive a discount on the entry fees.
Bidding
You can choose to make your bids in one or two ways.
Prior bids – are made before the auction starts.
Once you have chosen to participate in an auction and have paid the entry fee, you can make a prior bid. You can specify or change a prior bid at any time before bidding starts, without extra cost.
The bid is concealed from other users. When the auction has started, your bid is made if and when the calling price has fallen to the price you specified. If the bid is made, this is visible to all users.
- Why should I make a prior bid?
- You already know what you are prepared to pay for the product.
- You can not be present when the auction is in progress.
- You want to be sure that your bid is made if the price falls to this level.
Live bids – made when the auction is in progress.
To make a live bid, you have to pay the entry fee before the auction starts. When the auction starts, a five-line bid table is displayed, a BID button and the calling price. Every second the auction continues, the calling price falls linearly towards zero crowns. If you have chosen to participate in the auction, you can press the BID button at any time and purchase the product at the price displayed.
As the calling price falls, the five highest bids are presented in the bid table. If more than one participant has bid the same price, the bid that was first made or specified applies.
Please note that each bidder can only have one valid bid. This means that any Live bids replace a prior bid. It is not possible to make a Live bid once your prior bid has been published.
Purchasing
The auction is closed after 10 minutes. The bidder who has made the highest bid then has up to 24 hours to pay for the a winning bid. If this bidder does not purchase the product within 24 hours, or refuses it, the next bidder is given the opportunity of purchasing the product at the price they bid, and so on until the product is sold.
When one of the bidders purchases the product, the auction is closed.
